An article published in the Financial Times on 29 July, 2026 examining EQT’s discounted acquisition of a stake in Yorkshire Water amid the UK water sector’s financial and regulatory challenges, features comments by Tim Whittaker, Director of the EDHEC Infrastructure & Private Assets Research Institute (EIPA):
Tim Whittaker, who directs infrastructure and private assets research at Edhec Business School, said EQT had achieved a “significant discount” with the deal. “[The sector] has a stink around it, so people are not investing as much,” he said.
