Ofwat is likely to step in and put South East Water under the turnaround and oversight regime, according to Tim Whittaker, a research director at the EDHEC Infrastructure Institute. That’s where a company is kept under close watch by the regulator. “We shall see if the investors then want to recapitalize the company,” he said. “I don’t see them wanting to do more unless there’s no other choice to maintain value.”
