EDHEC Infra & Private Assets is pleased to announce the launch of its global survey as part of the 2025 update to the PrivatE Company Classification Standard (PECCS®) – our open-source framework developed to classify private companies using five objective, independent and risk-relevant dimensions. Current industry taxonomies often fail to capture the unique characteristics of private companies. PECCS addresses this by incorporating business model, lifecycle phase, customer focus, and value chain positioning alongside traditional industrial activity, offering a more accurate and granular peer-group classification system for private assets.
All feedback to the survey will directly inform the next version of the PECCS standard, reviewed by a global committee of leading investors, asset managers, and valuation experts.
Interested parties are invited to share their perspective on how private market classifications should evolve to better support valuation, benchmarking, and portfolio construction.
